Sierra White

When Hostessware launched in 1932, white was listed as a special order glaze. By 1935, the white color appears in advertising pieces as Sierra White. With the color craze, white glazes across the different manufacturers were not popular. In fact, it’s rumored that some potteries saved their white ware for the June bridal season. The color is hard to find, representing about 4% of pieces found. I’ve been able to acquire a decent number of serving pieces, but pulling together place settings (particularly cups and saucers) has been a challenge.

At some point in later production years, Pacific switches the glaze from high gloss to a matte finish similar to the white glaze used in their artware line.
