Sascha Brastoff’s Leaves and Shadows Fabric
I recently recreated Leaves & Shadows, a 1950s textile design by California artist and designer Sascha Brastoff. Best known for the ceramics produced through his Los Angeles studio from the late 1940s into the early 1960s, Brastoff also worked across metalwork, jewelry, sculpture and decorative design.
Leaves & Shadows was produced for Roomaker Fabrics, a home-furnishings textile brand of the New York-based Seneca Textile Corporation. During the postwar period, Roomaker offered printed fabrics for draperies, slipcovers and upholstery, including both traditional patterns and contemporary designs by recognized artists.
